GSTR 1 for the month of July extended to 20th September? – Truth behind latest news on due date extension of GSTR 1

1.0 Due date extension message in whatsapp

There has been a message going viral in the social media that the due date for filing the GSTR 1, 2 and 3 has been extended to 20th September and so on. This message has been going viral with news claiming that Dr.Hasmukh Adhia has resigned.

The later part has been confirmed by the government through the tweets which claims that Dr.Hasmukh Adhia has resigned from the post of interim chairman of GSTN. However, the former part has not been confirmed yet the government.

In other words, though the news is circulating in the social media that the due date of GSTR 1, 2 and 3 for the month of July has been extended, however there is no confirmation to this extension from the government.

                                      

2.0 What is the exact message that is circulating?

People are circulating the messages that the government has extended the date of GSTR1, GSTR2 and GSTR3 for the month of July to 20th, 25th and 30th September respectively. The exact messages are as follows:

“Hasmukh Adhia resigns as interim chairman of GSTN.CEO of UIDAI AB Pandey gets additional charge of hot seat.

Govt. Of India decides to extend the dates of Forms GSTR 1, GSTR-2 and GSTR-3 for the month of July to 20th, 25th and 30th September 2017 respectively;

Dates for August Returns extended to 5th, 10th and 15th October respectively; Notification to be issued shortly: Govt. Tweets”

 

3.0 Is it the fake news? Or do we expect the GSTR 1 extension to 20th September?

Though the news which is circulating in the social media regarding the extension may not be confirmed by the government yet, however, people may expect the extension from the government as a lot of people are still not able to file the GSTR 1 and which is mainly on account of the GSTN website which is not running properly.

 

4.0 Conclusion
