How to Get provisional ID and Password for Central Excise and Service Tax Taxpayers – Step by Step guide for GST Enrollment or Registration

Introduction
Every other time, the government is taking surprising moves but for any reason not able to implement any of the aforesaid moves properly. Likewise, the service tax enrollment under GST has also been planned to be implemented by 1st January 2017 which was later on deferred to 9th January 2017. Until now, people are not getting the provisional ID and password through which they can start their registration/migration under GST.
Now, on 10th January 2017 the government has issued a notification on how to get the provisional ID and password.
Provisional ID and Passwords
Provisional IDs would be issued to only those assessees who have a valid PAN associated with their registration. An assessee may not be provided with a Provisional ID in the following cases:
a) The PAN associated with the registration is not valid
b) The PAN is registered with State a Tax authority and Provisional ID has been supplied by the said State Tax authority.
c) There are multiple CE/ST registrations on the same PAN in a State. In this case, only 1 Provisional ID would be issued for the 1st registration in the alphabetical order provided any of the above 2 conditions are not met.

#Step 1: Logon to ACES portal using the existing ACES User ID and Password
#Step 2: Either follows the link to obtain the Provisional ID and Password OR navigate using the Menu.
#Step 3: Take your cursor to REG in menu bar and click on GST login credentials.
#Step 4: Make a note of the Provisional ID and password that is provided. In case a Provisional ID is not provided, you may please CONTACT US or call at +91 9540618336.
Conclusion
Once you have obtained the Provisional ID and Password, logon to the GST Common Portal (https://www.gst.gov.in) using this ID and Password and follow the following procedure.
